Our Waters

Hopton Pools July 2013

We have several stretches of Canals, Rivers and Pools in the local area.  Here you will find an idea of where you can fish as a member.  When you purchase your yearly membership pack, it contains a useful handbook, detailing directions to the locations of our waters and details of parking etc.

Brick Kiln Pits – Milwich

A small mature fishery set in the countryside, with approximately 12 pegs.  Expect to catch Roach, Tench, and Crucian Carp.  (This water is closed March 15 – June 15 inclusive each year).

Hopton PoolsNear Stafford

Two large mature pools with a good head of fish, including Roach, skimmers and larger Bream, Carp – to 15lb plus and some Perch. (These pools are closed 1 June – 30 June inclusive, each year) For safety reasons, a junior member may only fish this water if accompanied by an adult member.

Uni Pool - near Stafford

A much loved pools from Universal Grinidng Wheel days, we rescued this 2 years ago, we are currently undertaking a restoration project - plenty of pegs and fish in there already - give it a try and let us know what you think!

Staffs and Worcester CanalStafford

Trent and Mersey Canal – Hoo Mill to Great Haywood

Another popular stretch, just outside Stafford. Fishing is from just above Shugborough Lock to bridge number 77 opposite Ed Wheetman’s Haulage Yard.

Shropshire Union Canal – Little Onn and Cowley

Two sections here are available –detailed in the handbook.  Two great stretches with the usual Canal species.

River Sow – Brancote and Milford

Two stretches on this local River, one at Brancote Sewerage Works, the other at Milford.  Both offer good river fishing with Roach, Bream, Chub, Pike, Perch, Dace and the occasional Carp and Barble.

River Trent – A513 near Stafford

One stretch approximately 5 miles east of Stafford.  Roach, Bream, Chub, Pike, Perch, Dace and the occasional Carp and Barble.

We hope this gives you an idea of what the club offers and will agree the yearly license really does offer great value for money.

Do please visit this website regularly – we shall be putting up some more great pictures of the waters soon!
