Our Waters

 

We have several stretches of Canals, Rivers and Pools in the local area.  Here you will find an idea of where you can fish as a member and the types of fish you may encounter at each venue.

This information is also detailed in your membership handbook along with more detailed information around directions, parking and site specific rules.

 

Little Gem – Bradley

The newest addition to our waters, aquired in 2023, it is a beautiful well stocked mixed species fishing pool situated in rural Staffordshire.

It is also the smallest of our waters with approxiamtely 10 pegs situated around the perimeter of the pool.

Expect to catch Gudgeon, Roach, Rudd, Perch, F1 and Carp.

Parking is avaialbe at this site - Please use the designated parking areas.

Brick Kiln Pits – Milwich

A small mature fishing pool set in the Staffordshire countryside, with approximately 6 pegs. 

Expect to catch Roach, Rudd, Perch and Carp. 

(This water is closed March 15 – June 15 inclusive each year).

 

Please note: Due to restoration works, some pegs may be unavailable.

 

Parking:

Parking is avaiable on the grass verges but do not block any Gateways.

Hopton PoolsHopton (Stafford)

This is the associations's primary Carp fishary. made up of two large mature pools with a good head of Carp up to and over 20lbs. Other species include Perch, Roach and Bream.

(These pools are closed 1 June – 30 June inclusive, each year).

For safety reasons, a junior member may only fish this water if accompanied by an adult member.

Night Fishing is avaialbe at this venue with the purchase of the Night Syndicate membership.

 

Parking:

Parking is available on the car park opposite the County Show Ground ONLY. It is not permitted to take vehicles down to the pools.

Uni Pool - Western 

A much loved pool from Universal Grinidng Wheel days.

This pool is currently undergoing a rolling restoration program.

Current residents include some large Carp, Tench, Roach and Perch.

Parking is avaible on the grass at the entrace to the pool, along the roadside.

Staffs and Worcester CanalStafford, Baswich, Milford

Fishing from towpath side only, from Roseford Bridge (Number 94) to Milford Aqueduct. 

Over 2 miles of this popular canal. This canal provides oppertunities for every angler with both urban and rural sections. 

Contains the following species – Gudgeon, Roach, Perch, Ruffe, Bream, Pike and some very large Carp.

 

Note: Not all fish listed above are present in all stretches of this canal.

(Lane not suitable for vehicles with low ground clearance)

Trent and Mersey Canal – Hoo Mill to Great Haywood

Another popular canal, just outside Stafford. Fishing is from Shugborough Lock to bridge Number 77 (Pasturefields Bridge) (opposite Ed Wheetman’s Haulage Yard) on the towpath side only.

Note: Pasturefields Bridge may no longer be No.77.

Expect to catch Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream and Pike. There is also the odd Carp and Zander.

River Sow – Brancote and Milford

Two stretches on this local River, one at Brancote Sewerage Works, the other at Milford. 

Both offer good river fishing with Roach, Bream, Chub, Pike, Perch, Dace and the occasional Barble.

 

Brancote Sewerage works limited access - 0700-1400 Monday-Friday

Parking available on Grass verge before sewerage works (Do not obstruct roadway)

River Trent – A513 near Stafford

A short stretch approximately 5 miles east of Stafford - Parking is available on the A513 adjacent to Meadow Lane bridge.

Usual river species with majority Perch, Roach, Dace and Chub - Fishing from the East side of the bridge.
