Set in the heart of rural Staffordshire, this small, mature pool offers a peaceful atmosphere ideal for anglers of all experience levels. The water holds a varied stock, with good numbers of
perch, roach, and rudd, alongside a smaller population of tench and a healthy head of carp ranging through multiple sizes, with the largest fish well into double figures.
The pool is also home to a small number of resident pike, and together with some impressively sized perch, it provides rewarding opportunities for predator anglers. Small soft plastics often provoke
aggressive takes from the resident predators, making this a productive venue for light lure fishing.
Due to safety concerns, the old wooden stages have been removed, reducing the number of available pegs. Around six pegs are now spaced around the perimeter, offering comfortable and well‑positioned
spots for a relaxed day’s fishing.
Float fishing remains a favourite among pleasure anglers, while ledger and feeder tactics are effective for targeting the carp, which are frequently found patrolling beneath the overhanging trees
along the far bank. Quick reactions are essential here to prevent fish from reaching the snags.
If you’re especially fortunate, you might catch a glimpse of the pool’s resident ghost carp—the only one known to inhabit these waters. It’s often seen basking near the surface during warm, sunny spells, but despite its regular appearances, it has proven remarkably elusive, evading even the most dedicated anglers’ nets.
This Pool is closed during the Closed Season from March 16th - June 15th inclusive to allow for spawning.
Night fishing is not permitted at this venue.
